“The overall numbers for our last two surveys are 14 million hunters in 1996 and 13 million hunters in 2001, a drop of 7 percent; 35.2 million anglers in 1996 and 34.1 million anglers in 2001, a drop of 3 percent; and 62.9 million wildlife watchers in 1996 and 66.1 million in 2001, an increase of 5 percent.”
